Fryštát Château in Karviná and other monuments of the Old Town

Dodaj do planera

On your travels through the region, the Empire gem of Fryštát Château is a must-see. Visiting can be an unforgettable experience, not only for lovers of historical monuments. The Château in Karviná is one of the rare witnesses of local history. Tourists can visit all year round, and the abundance of attractions on offer is unique on a regional scale. Three fixed sightseeing routes lead through 33 sumptuously furnished chambers. One of them is devoted to the most famous Czech artists of the 19th century. From the very beginning, the stylish palace made a great impression, but apart from this secular monument, there are other important buildings in the city, such as the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, which is the oldest monument in the city and certainly the tallest building in the historic centre. The church can be visited outside the hours of church services and as a part of a special sightseeing route including the palace and the church. There are many informational and promotional materials for visitors, describing not only the palace and the church but also the nearby Božena Němcova Park, which is worth taking a walk around with the brochure guide. After a stroll in the park, you can sit and relax during a boat ride at the “Łódeczki” recreation centre. A characteristic element of the city’s landscape and a charming photographic motif is the market square, surrounded by a line of town houses, in the middle of which stands the town hall and a cast-iron fountain. You can ride around the historic Old Town in a horse and carriage. Palace opening hours and information about the current attractions and services on offer can be found at www.zamek-frystat.cz. The Tourist Information Centre (Infocentrum) has the full range of city attractions.
